Turkey Burgers are a lowfat alternative to regular hamburgers and are very easy to prepare. The lemon and herb flavors lend a fresh taste to these burgers. Serve them for lunch, dinner or anytime you feel like a good nosh.
- 1 lb. ground turkey
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. grated lemon zest
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs or matzo meal
- 2 tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. dried dill(or oregano, if preferred)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1-2 tbsp. oil (for pan)
Combine all ingredients except for the oil. Mix well and shape into patties that are about 1/2" thick.
Heat oil in a skillet to medium-high heat. Cook patties on each side for about 5-7 minutes, until cooked
in the centre and juices run clear. Turkey burgers should be golden brown.
Serve in hamburger buns or in pita bread together with lettuce, tomatoes and shredded carrots. Add sauce
or condiments of choice and enjoy.
