Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

Scalloped Potatoes Recipe is an easy casserole dish that you can prepare in less than 15 minutes. This quick and easy recipe is an appetizing centrepiece to an otherwise ordinary meal, without too much fuss or clean up. Once you put the casserole in the oven, most of the work is done.


Ingredients:

  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced into circles
  • 1-2 tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 medium onions, sliced
  • 2 green pepper, diced
  • 3 stalks of celery, diced
  • 1 ½ cups grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, gruyere, Monterey Jack - your choice)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
Note: you can add your favorite spices to the dish for added flavor (garlic powder, paprika, cayenne powder - it's up to you!)

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Place a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of a greased baking dish. Dot with butter or margarine and top with a layer of sliced onions. Add a third of the peppers and celery. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of cheese over the vegetables. Repeat layers ending with grated cheese. Add salt and pepper to milk and pour milk over the whole mixture. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and finish baking for a final 15 minutes to brown the top layer. Rich dairy goodness!
