Baked Caramel Bananas
<<
Baked Caramel Bananas are a rich, nutty treat at Passover and year round. Arrange the ingredients in the pan and keep an eye on them while they bake to avoid burning. Take care - the caramel becomes very hot!
Serve this delicious dish plain or spoon over ice cream as a topping.
Ingredients:
- 4 bananas, sliced into pieces of 3/4"-1" thick
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 450°F. Grease and line a large shallow baking dish with parchment paper.
Arrange pieces of banana in a flat layer on baking dish. Pour orange juice and butter over bananas. Bake in centre of oven for 10 minutes. Baste to make sure that banana pieces are covered with butter mixture. Sprinkle brown sugar and nuts all over bananas and buttery liquid; continue baking for about 5 minutes until sugar is melted into the butter and nuts are browned.
Makes: 4 servings (if bananas are very large, increase ingredients in proportion - equal amounts of butter and brown sugar)
Note: Keep an eye on the bananas as they bake to avoid burning - be careful when handling the caramel liquid - it is very hot!
